United Remain Unbeatable

A lackluster display from jurgen klopp’s side ensured that they failed to equal City’s record of 18 consecutive wins in the league and also failed to pick up maximum points at Old Trafford, a trend that has now seen Manchester United remain unbeaten against the reds at home in the league since January 2017.

United have had four of their last home games against Liverpool end in three draws and a win, the latter a 2-1 victory under former boss Jose mourinho.

The last fixture at the theatre of dreams saw a spirited united team take the lead after 37 minutes from Marcus Rashford who tapped home from close range after a Daniel james cross from the right hand side was poorly dealth with by the Liverpool defense.

The Video Assistant referee (VAR) had a lot to do as it upheld the Rashford goal much to the disgust of klopp and Liverpool fans as there was a clear foul in the build up of the goal.

Divock Origi was clearly caught on his calf by viktor lindelof but Atkinson was having none of that excuse as he upheld the goal.
VAR was once again called into action as a goal from sadio mane was cancelled due to a hand ball that was clearly unnoticed and unintentional.

Everything seemed headed for a one nil victory to united until second half substitute Adam Lallana tapped home from close range after an Andy Robertson cross was completely misjudged by the united defense. The draw sees Liverpool’s lead at the top cut to six points and united moving up to 13th on the table
